Well, the name was chosen to reflect the 66 Books of the Bible. As Christians we believe that the Bible, especially the New Testament, teaches us how we should all live our lives here on earth; it's our pathway or route to forgiveness and to eternal life. It's as simple as that. :-) Check it out for yourself by typing in a word with the following Bible search engine . . .</span> </span></div> <form action="http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/" method="post"><br /><table style="border-color: rgb(51, 0, 0); width: 310px; height: 167px;" border="1" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0"><br /><tbody><tr><th style="padding: 0pt 10px; background-color: rgb(51, 0, 0); color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-align: center;">Lookup a word or passage in the Bible</th></tr> <tr><td style="padding: 0pt 10px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-align: center;"><br /><p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"> <input name="quicksearch" type="text"><br /><br /><input value="Search BibleGateway.com" type="submit"><br /><br /></p> <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/" title="The Bible in multiple languages, versions, and formats"><br /><img src="http://www.biblegateway.com/images/logos/bglogo_sm.gif" alt="BibleGateway.com" border="0" height="12" width="376" /></a><br /><br /><small><br /><a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/usage/form/">Include this form on your page</a><br /><br /></small><br /></td></tr><br /></tbody></table><br /></form>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-53573108409515693262008-06-07T18:18:00.009+01:002008-06-22T17:04:29.109+01:002008 . . .<span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Ladies Day (June 7)</span> </span><br />Once again we spent a most enjoyable day at All Saints church in the company of Vibrant, the ladies outreach and fellowship group. "Vibrant" (as the ladies call their group) organised an exceptional day that turned out to be a blessing to everyone there and not least of all to Route 66. It really is such a blessing to fellowship with "Vibrant" that we are already looking forward to playing again for them. Nothing is too much for them. Their strong faith and witness inspires them to work very hard and to give of their time to witness and serve the Lord. What a blessing they are!</span></div>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-73904405178293778022007-06-10T14:10:00.005+01:002008-06-08T18:30:23.107+01:00Wimborne Folk Festival . . .<div style="text-align: justify;"><a style="font-family: verdana;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_5HX7a3JMQ1o/Ruq3L3VYc_I/AAAAAAAAAL4/HpdFG-8egIw/s1600-h/2007%2BWimborne%2B%289%29d.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_5HX7a3JMQ1o/Ruq3L3VYc_I/AAAAAAAAAL4/HpdFG-8egIw/s200/2007%2BWimborne%2B%289%29d.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110098141665326066" border="0" /></a><span style=";font-family:Verdana;font-size:85%;" ><span style="font-size:100%;">Yesterday we shared an evening of outreach music in Wimborne with our Christian brother and friend, singer / songwriter & guitarist Peter Aston (<a href="http://www.peter-aston.co.uk/">www.peter-aston.co.uk</a>) and other members of Holtwood Church in Dorset. Peter, (accompanied by flautist Becky) excited the crowds with several of his own compositions while Route 66 shared the platform and played for about thirty minutes.</span><br /><br /></span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" ><span style="font-size:100%;">The entire session lasted about three hours and was a good musical witness to the Lord as there were lots of people sitting on the lawns listening, and even more walking around. The four music groups offered a variety of music genres from folk and contemporary Christian music to upbeat blues and rock. It really is wonderful how praising and singing to our God is not limited to any particular type of music. As the Bible says: "Let everything that has breath PRAISE THE LORD!! (Psalm 150: 6)</span> </span></div><p style="text-align: justify;font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-size:100%;">PS. It's interesting to read the Matthew Henry Commentary about that Psalm:</span></p><p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><strong>A Psalm of Praise.</strong> </span></p><div style="text-align: justify;font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-size:100%;">We are here stirred up to praise God. Praise God for his sanctuary and the privileges we enjoy by having it among us. Praise him because of his power and glory in the firmament. The holiness and the love of our God are more displayed in man's redemption than in all his other works. Let us praise our God and Saviour for it. We need not care to know what instruments of music are mentioned. Hereby is meant that in serving God we should spare no cost or pains. Praise God with strong faith; praise him with holy love and delight; praise him with entire confidence in Christ; praise him with believing triumph over the powers of darkness; praise him by respect to all his commands; praise him by cheerful submission to all his disposals; praise him by rejoicing in his love, and comforting ourselves in his goodness; praise him by promoting the interests of the kingdom of his grace; praise him by lively hope and expectation of the kingdom of his glory. While we have breath let us praise the Lord!</span></div><p><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-44513669394311355592007-06-10T13:58:00.026+01:002008-06-22T07:58:36.995+01:00Current members and contributors . . .<span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >bob (guitar & vocals), </span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >t</span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >erry c (vocals),</span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" > </span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >alex (lead guitar), </span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >brenda (vocals),</span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" > t</span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" ><span style="font-size:100%;">erry n (bass), jan (keys & vocals), andy (drums & bass)</span><br /></span>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-54335256394756859352007-05-10T21:45:00.009+01:002008-06-22T07:59:58.525+01:00Previous members and contributors . . .<span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;">Route 66 wishes to thank the following people for their contributions to the work and outreach.<br /><br />rose (keys), sue (vocals), liz (vocals), suzie (vocals), vikki (vocals), amanda (vocals), kath (vocals), tom (bass), cloe (vocals), suzanne (keys), sarah (vocals), dave (drums) </span></span>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-73224765000729752572007-05-01T15:01:00.003+01:002008-05-29T18:48:24.668+01:00Route 66 also wishes to thank . . .<span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" ></span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" ></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Peter Aston for </span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >giving</span><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" > generously of his time to support our venues through his own music and work on the sound desk.</span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Roger Morris of Mirror-Image band for his friendship and encouragment.</span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >John Green of recent rainfall for his friendship and advice.</span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Mike Caroccia for his rendering and recording of Route 66's arrangement of "Back On Track".</span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Kathleen Cockerell for providing catering support during many of our outreach events.</span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >All those whose names are too many to list for their support to the work of Route 66.<br /><br /><br /><br /></span></div>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665660433719093408.post-50643061849859735142007-04-29T18:46:00.000+01:002008-05-29T18:46:45.586+01:00Friend's websites . . .<span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Singer songwriter Peter Aston (<a href="http://www.peter-aston.co.uk/">www.peter-aston.co.uk</a>) </span><br /><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >Singer songwriter Roger Morris <a href="http://www.mirrorimageband.org/">http://www.mirrorimageband.org/</a><br />Singer songwriter John Green (</span><a href="http://www.recentrainfall.com/"><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >www.recentrainfall.com</span></a><span style=";font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;" >)</span>route 66http://www.blogger.com/profile/17834631866735879244noreply@blogger.com
